National Geographic Books is publishing for the first time the complete Coptic text, with English and French translations, of Codex Tchacos, the remarkable, 1,700-year-old papyrus manuscript that contains the Gospel of Judas and three other ancient texts.

(It promises to be a lovely book, I recommend looking at the photos.  Look for the damage that looks like sandblasting:  that was caused by an antiquities dealer freezing the codex.)

Note to self: talk about the new translation The Nag Hammadi Scriptures, the Book of Allogenes (or the Book of the Stranger), the Nag Hammadi Library text Allogenes and how they are and aren't alike, the Letter of Peter to Philip, and Sethian Gnosticism. Talk about what not to do with ancient manuscrupts!
